You can't beat live music

I saw Funkadelic-Parliament-Parlet-Brides of Dr Funkenstein at Birmingham Odeon around 1978.

I already owned my treasured copy of ‘One Nation under a groove’ but nothing prepared me for that night. If you didn’t dance, you were a ‘Maggot Brain.’ George Clinton’s mothership had landed in the west midlands and made a lot of people happy – including me.

Bootsy Collins’ bass under-pinned the whole thing but it was George who kept pulling rabbits out of the hat – including a stand-up comedian during the breaks; he talked about maths and geometry;
“These clever guys keep saying πr2 but I know pie are round!”
This was a weird mix of rocksoulfunk – it was Funkadelic!
