Bloody southerners

The distillation of everything northern, Uncle Mort was the creation of Peter Tinniswood and was portrayed fantastically in the BBC series ‘I didn’t know you cared’, by Nottingham/Hucknall’s own son Robin Bailey.

The Beeb commissioned a series of radio transmissions of Tinniswood’s creation tracing Mort’s reflections upon his life, comments on the present and a grim view of the future.
Stephen Thorne did a great job but whose accent was more Lancashire than Yorkshire.

Uncle Mort fought through two world wars to save us all so do this for him;
Wear a poppy, grab onto your pint of bitter and ginger wine chaser and celebrate the heroes of his generation and subsequent conflicts including those in our own time. Need I say more?
