There have been few films made which, I can watch time and time again and always conclude; “that was just brilliant”.

Bruce Robinson’s ‘Withnail and I’ has no jokes but must be one of the funniest films ever made. Beware there is a lot of swearing, no apparent plot and virtually no females. It is also purely English,

It might take a few viewings to ‘get it’ but you will be infected with one-liners forever once you do. The chicken in the cooking range, Danny the dealer taking off his shades or the tearoom sequence; you will choose your own favourite bits and smile each time you think about them.

Then there is the soundtrack music!

Hats off to the Withnail & I crew
